Mission Statement

The mission of the Sacred Heart Children's Faith Formation, a faith family, is to enable our children to carry on their Catholic faith with joy and confidence as disciples and witnesses of Jesus under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Faith Formation for Grades K – 8

Classes
Faith Formation classes are offered in English for Grades 1st - 8th, from 6:00–7:30pm each Wednesday, from September through May. Classes are offered in Spanish on Sunday mornings, 10:00-11:30am, September through May. All classes are held in the parish center.

Registration for Faith Formation is required. Please down load and fill out the registration form under "links" to the left and return it to the parish office.
 
Sacraments
The sacraments of  Eucharist and Reconciliation are normally celebrated at the end of the 2nd grade. Sacramental preparation begins in the 1st grade and enrollment in Faith Formation is required during both years of this two-year preparation period. Children and their parents are also required to attend Mass each Sunday.  80% attendance at class and Sunday Mass is required in order for your child to receive the Sacraments of First Eucharist and Reconciliation. For children in 3 ^rd through 8 ^th grade who need to receive First Eucharist, attendance at Faith Formation on Wednesday evenings and the First Eucharist Preparation classes are required.
 
Sacramental preparation for  Confirmation normally begins in the 7th grade. Enrollment in Faith Formation is required during both years of this two-year preparation period. Children and their parents are also required to attend Mass each Sunday.  80% attendance at class and Sunday Mass is required in order for your child to receive Confirmation.
 
Sacraments for High School Students
We also offer The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) for high school-aged children who need to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Please contact the parish office if you are interested in our RCIC classes.
 
Volunteers
Faith sharing is life sharing! All classes are taught by volunteers. We are always looking for men and women willing to donate their gift of time and faith. Please consider the possibility of teaching in our program. Training and ongoing support is provided. All volunteers must be fingerprinted and complete the  "Safe Environment Training - CMG Connect” course offered on-line through our Diocese of Sacramento. If you are unable to donate an hour a week, there are many other opportunities to assist with other, short-term sessions.
